Microneedling in Toronto
Refresh your skin with microneedling at Lips & Lines+ in Toronto. Also called collagen induction therapy, microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the skin’s repair response. Treatment can improve the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, uneven texture, and selected pigmentation concerns.
We offer microneedling with hyaluronic acid, NCTF®, PDRN, or PRP, with your treatment selected according to your skin concerns and suitability. Whether your goal is smoother texture, a more refreshed appearance, or improvement in acne scarring, we will discuss realistic expectations and recommend a personalized plan.
Your consultation includes a skin assessment and a review of your medical history, skincare routine, and previous treatments. We will explain the selected product, its intended use, and any off-label aspects of combining it with microneedling.
Microneedling: Frequently Asked Questions
What is microneedling?
Microneedling uses a device with fine needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin. The healing response stimulates collagen production, which can gradually improve skin texture and the appearance of certain scars and wrinkles.
What microneedling options do you offer?
At Lips & Lines+, we offer four options:
- Hyaluronic acid: A hydration-focused option using a substance that attracts and holds water.
- NCTF®: A formulation containing hyaluronic acid alongside ingredients such as vitamins, amino acids, and minerals.
- PDRN: A preparation containing DNA fragments studied for their potential role in tissue repair and skin rejuvenation.
- PRP: Platelet-rich plasma prepared from your own blood, containing platelets and growth factors involved in healing.
Which option is best for my skin?
Your provider will consider your skin condition, goals, sensitivities, medical history, and previous response. We will explain what each option may offer and where the evidence is limited, so you can make an informed choice.
What is microneedling with NCTF®?
This option combines microneedling with an NCTF® formulation. NCTF 135 HA contains non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid and a blend of other vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
What is microneedling with PDRN?
PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide. It is being studied for tissue-repair and skin-rejuvenation applications.
What is microneedling with PRP?
A small blood sample is collected and processed to concentrate the platelets. The prepared PRP is applied during your microneedling treatment.
Can microneedling help with acne scars?
It can improve some depressed acne scars, though it will not completely erase them. Scar type and depth affect the response, and a series or combination of treatments may be recommended. Active inflamed acne should be assessed before proceeding.
How many sessions will I need?
A series is often recommended, commonly beginning with three sessions spaced approximately one month apart. The number and interval should be adjusted to your skin concern, treatment depth, healing, and response.
When will I see results?
You may notice changes within a few weeks, while collagen-related improvements develop over several months. Results vary, and repeated treatments may be needed.
Does microneedling hurt?
Topical numbing may be used to improve comfort. You can still experience scratching, pressure, or stinging, with sensitivity afterward.
Is there downtime?
Temporary redness, tightness, tenderness, swelling, or flaking can occur. Recovery depends on treatment intensity and your skin’s response. Allow several days before an important event and follow your aftercare instructions.
How should I care for my skin afterward?
Follow the gentle skincare and sun-protection plan provided by your clinician. Avoid exfoliating acids, retinoids, and other irritating products until advised to restart them. Use only the products recommended for your stage of healing.
