Hyaluronidase Aftercare Instructions (Filler Dissolving Treatment)

Hyaluronidase works very quickly once injected:

  • Onset: It begins breaking down hyaluronic acid filler within minutes of injection.

  • Peak effect: Most of the dissolving happens in the first 24–48 hours.

  • Visible changes:

    • Patients often see softening or reduction in filler immediately or within a few hours, though swelling and bruising can make the final result clearer after 2–3 days.

    • Some individuals may notice that the treated area looks uneven, indented, or “sunken” immediately after dissolving. This is temporary and often related to swelling, bruising, or the way the enzyme is working under the skin. Over the next 2–3 days, the swelling will settle, and the full results will become clearer.

  • Duration of action: The enzyme itself is metabolized and gone from the body within about 24–48 hours, but the filler breakdown is permanent (the dissolved product is cleared naturally by the body).

✅ What to Expect

  • Redness, swelling, and tenderness at the injection sites are common and usually resolve within 24–72 hours.

  • Bruising may develop and can take up to 7–10 days to resolve.

  • Some patients experience allergic-type reactions such as itching, rash, or hives. Please notify us if this occurs

✅ Aftercare Guidelines

  • Avoid touching or massaging the treated area for the rest of the day.

  • Use cool compresses (not ice directly on skin) if swelling or discomfort occurs.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, hot tubs, saunas, and direct heat (tanning or facials) for 24–48 hours.

  • Avoid makeup on the treated area for 12 hours to minimize infection risk.

📞 When to Contact Us Immediately

  • Sudden or worsening swelling, rash, hives, or difficulty breathing

  • Any other concerning or unexpected side effects.

📝 Follow-Up & Treatment Plan

Hyaluronidase works quickly but sometimes requires more than one session for full correction especially if there is a large volume of filler, thicker filler, or filler placed deeply.

📝 When to Re-Inject After Hyaluronidase

It is usually recommended to wait at least 7–14 days after hyaluronidase treatment before reinjecting new filler.

Days 5–7

  • Swelling should begin to subside.

📞 When to Contact Us

  • Please contact the clinic urgently via email or telephone if you experience:

    • Redness around the injection site

    • Extreme pain or tenderness

    • Fever, shivering, or fatigue
